In the Ribera Alta, along the banks of the river Júcar, the scent of orange blossoms fills the air and land is a green blanket full of fruits, the oranges. These fruits are our life, they symbolize our faith and hope, they are the result of the back-breaking toil of several generations who strove to achieve what we have today. This countryside and especially our citrus fruits, are part of us, part of what today is our town, Algemesí.
It was specifically to uphold this way of life that the Cooperative was created. The agricultural cooperation, the association, caters to the needs of producers more efficiently, with greater rewards for less effort or investment. Throughout the years, the Cooperative has contributed to the economic and social development of Algemesí, taking advantage of the bounty of these lands and the industriousness of its inhabitants.
It is therefore not possible to imagine the current Algemesí without the Cooperative or the Cooperative without their city and its people. It is a symbiosis of solidarity in which we all get a benefit. There are few homes in our city that are not directly or indirectly part of the Cooperative, as partners and/or employees.
Although the number of people directly working in agriculture is shrinking every day, provided surfaces are maintained, with the cooperative itself in many cases dealing with the cultivation of the plots provided. That is why the main economic engine in Algemesí is still today agriculture.
The Cooperative is a social and economic reality made up of people, and serves as a benchmark of progress of our city.
Algemesí and its Cooperative trust each other and walk together into the future, overcoming difficulties in order to continue making agriculture economically sustainable.
